Nine Mile Run Watershed
One hundred acres of parkland in the Nine Mile Run stream valley are being annexed to the park, extending the limits of the park to the Monongahela River and increasing the size of the park to 600 acres. The project is adjacent to a 700-unit residential development called Summerset at Frick Park. Restoration of the valley is also reintroducing meanders into the stream, providing an urban aquatic habitat for wildlife, and preserving the valley's open space. Efforts to reduce storm water runoff and sewage in the stream will help cut the effluents flowing into the Monongahela River. For more information, visit the Nine Mile Run Watershed Association’s website at www.ninemilerun.org.
