Eco Art

Through partnerships with Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, PPC has worked with Eco Art classes that produce more than just works of art--they help develop creative solutions to environmental problems.  Led by art professors and PPC field staff, Eco Art classes have completed five seasons of field work and art in Schenley Park.

During their time in the field, students learn about restoration techniques in the areas of invasive plant control, erosion control, and native plant establishment.  This knowledge then informs the inspiration for creative projects of a wide variety.  Some past examples include a wastebasket constructed from Porcelainberry vines and the design of a new meadow in upper Phipps Run.
