Picnic shelter rentals

The Parks Conservancy is working to develop a management and restoration plan for this historic park in downtown Pittsburgh.  Built in the 1950s, it was one of the first parks ever to be built atop a parking garage.

The 2008 restoration of this century-old building restored a popular picnic shelter to its historic design.  The surrounding landscape was filled with native plants, and a new trail connection was added.

Phipps Run

This stream running through Schenley Park regularly overflowed and washed out a heavily used trail.  The Parks Conservancy and the City of Pittsburgh restored the stream to its proper channel and renewed the surrounding wetland.

Mellon Park’s Walled Garden has been restored and replanted in memory of Ann Katharine Seamans.  A public art component brings the night sky to earth with “stars” embedded in the lawn.
