Walking Trails

Easy

For a pleasant wooded walk, try the Observatory Trail. Start behind the Visitor Center and turn left. Make your way along the Observatory Trail for this leisurely half-mile loop.

Intermediate

To get your blood flowing, try one of Riverview’s most popular walks. This 2-mile loop on Riverview Drive begins at the main park entrance and winds at a gradual grade through the entire park. The route goes past all major park amenities while providing an excellent view of the park woodlands.

Difficult

This more rigorous 2-mile hike includes some steep climbs through beautiful wooded scenery. Start at the Visitor Center, turn right and take the Wissahickon Trail. Continue along the Wissahickon Trail, cross the Archery Trail, and continue into the Locust Grove picnic area. Take the steps up to the road and turn left onto Riverview Drive, continuing until the Bob Harvey Trail. Turn right onto the Bob Harvey Trail and follow for about a half mile. When you reach the bear pit, turn left onto the old road and continue back to the park entrance.
