Find the freshest local produce and baked goods at this weekly market in Allegheny Commons, presented by the City of Pittsburgh Office of Special Events. The market will run every Friday from May 17 to November 22, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please contact the Office of Special Events at 412-255-2493 with questions.
Keep Moving! Tai Chi
Sundays, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Tai Chi improves balance, muscle strength, and flexibility. Join us for weekly Tai Chi sessions at the Frick Environmental Center. Tai Chi at the FEC is made possible with the generous support of the Jewish Healthcare Foundation.
Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Volunteer at Frick Park! Weeding Wednesday volunteers help to care for our park gardens by pulling weeds, as well as cutting dead leaves and flowers. Gloves and tools are provided.
First Friday Nature Walk
First Friday of the Month, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Join a Naturalist at the FEC on the first Friday of every month for a relaxed hike through the woods. First Friday hikes are designed for those ages 50+.
Frick Park After Dark
Second Friday of the Month, 5:45 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Join us at the FEC every second Friday of the month, May through October, for a 21+ event full of educational workshops, local food trucks, drinks, and live music! All-inclusive (two drinks, food truck voucher, workshop, and live music) tickets are $25. $18 tickets are available for workshop and music only. Doors open at 5:45 p.m.
Third Friday Fitness Hike
Third Friday of the Month, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Walking in nature is linked to lowered blood pressure, elevated moods, and reduced cases of heart disease. Hikes occur every third Friday of the month and are intended for those ages 50+.
Summer Hammock Hangout

The Summer Hammock Hangout is all about finding ways to relax and have fun. REI will be on site to help attendees learn to set up a hammock safely, both for you and for trees. XPogo will be bouncing around, as well, and Steel City Slackers will be here to help you find your balance.

Join us at the 5th Annual Allegheny SolarFest, a 100% solar-powered event that celebrates the power of the sun. This event will include a variety of activities, as well as food truck options from local vendors, Millie's Homemade Ice Cream, Pittsburgh Halal, and Pittsburgh Taco.
Jr. Garden Buds Story Hike: Plants Can’t Sit Still

Plants have different ways of moving, even when they are rooted in the ground. Join us for story time in the garden as we read Plants Can’t Sit Still by Rebecca E. Hirsch. Afterward, explore the garden and the surrounding area to find out which ways the plants in Frick Park are movin’ and groovin’.

Join a Naturalist Educator in the Nature Play area for a playful afternoon in the park. This month, we’ll be creating seed balls to throw into the meadow. This will help new meadow plants grow next Spring!

Pittsburgh Mah Jongg
Thursdays beginning June 13, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Mah Jong (Mah Jongg, Mahjong, Mahjongg, Mah-jongg) originated in China late in the 19th century, and migrated to the United States early in the 20th century. Many different groups created sets of rules for Mah Jong. In 1937, in an attempt to bring some order to the variations on the game, a group of players founded the National Mah Jong League. The NMJL remains the canonical source for Mah Jong rules. The game is a bit challenging for beginners, so we'll spend the first few weeks getting to know the rules and routines of the game.

Combine reading and summer fun by joining us for a morning of books and play. After listening to stories, children will be invited to ride the PNC Carousel for free! In the event of inclement weather, this program will be cancelled.
WYEP Summer Music Festival
Join us for a day of music and festivities at the 2019 WYEP Summer Music Festival. The lineup includes Pierce Dipner, Elias Khouri, Nevada Color, Clara Kent, Cautious Clay, and DeVotchKa. WYEP's Summer Music Festival is presented by UPMC Health Plan and is also sponsored by Dollar Bank, Green Mountain Energy, and Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy.
